In this image we see a woman dreaming up her inner wild cat, the Egyptian cat goddess Bast. A cat as a goddess symbol embraces feminine sensuality. The lithe, undulating movements of a cat are not unlike the undulating movements of a woman dancing or making love. Pre-dynastic Egyptian woman were very liberated. In the temples of Hathor, Isis and Bast women could express their full sexual/creative energies in the ecstatic worship of the goddess.
In her dream, the woman is a black panther, a completely sensuous, intuitive, instinctual and passionate being who is a part of nature. The panther watches and waits for the right moment to act, knowing just how to take care of itself. Upon awakening, she resolves not to abandon the wild woman within.
